Camouflage
Matt Rogers, Nick Reed
V1 -
One of the few and the proudest out of Camp Lejeune
Built by Uncle Sam to be bulletproof
And when they sent him overseas he knew he might not come back
But the tours of duty they flew on by
Gave him some medals and gave him some stripes
And in the blink of an eye half his life was gone like that
PC
One war was over, but another was just beginning
When it’s all you know it's hard to be a civilian
C
Thank you for your service son/yea you're good to go
Sorry 'bout your buddies that ain’t coming home
It's a little late in life to be someone new
Bottle everything up and keep it deep inside
Devil Dogs ain't never ‘sposed to cry/
Everybody knows soldiers ain’t allowed to cry
And we’ll all ignore the hero in the room
Blame it on Camouflage
V2
Just walk on by um like they ain’t there
Still waving a flag and pretending to care
We say it's not our problem—it’s nothing we can do
We just give a number say get in line
Give em some pills and say give it some time
You’ll be right as rain back to normal in a week or two
B
All gave some and some gave all
There’s a missing link here we gotta solve
This problem couldn’t be more clear
So from now on maybe they’ll hear
C3
Thank ya for service, and welcome home
No matter what you’re going through you’re not alone
And we’re here to help if you wanna start something new
God only knows what you keep inside
But don't give in and stay in the fight
Cause we always see the heroes in the room
The ones that went to war for me and you
No you’re not just camouflage
